When we got our kitties
(a year ago this November)
they were the first animals
to join our little homestead.
We needed 'barn cats'
to help control the mice...
They were so sweet and fun
this brother-sister set.
They quickly won their way into
our lives,
and,
into our hearts!
We knew the 'dangers' of course.
Coyotes, fox, badger, and even
mountain lion are in these parts.
But,
they bravely made it through
the first winter here.

It's been two weeks now.
Two weeks that our sweet Trapper
has been gone.
For days we still held onto the possibility
that he'd return, calling his
name every morning and night.
He'd never gone that far and with
each day that he was missing,
we feared he would be gone for good.
We're pretty sure now, with the 'wild-ness'
of where we live and the frigid cold and snow
of this past week~
that he won't be returning.
Of course I don't want to assume anything
after our lesson with the discovery of the little 'white' hen;
but,
we all seem to need closure right now.
So with that,
we say,
'Goodbye Trapper.'
of where we live and the frigid cold and snow
of this past week~

Of course I don't want to assume anything
after our lesson with the discovery of the little 'white' hen;

we say,
'Goodbye Trapper.'
