What to Buy~

Our entire Costco purchase

The organic items we bought

Fruits and vegetables from the Clean 15 list

Other 'good deal' purchases

One of the places we like to shop is Costco. Not only do they have great deals for families, but also carry gluten free and organic items.
Our path to healthier eating has been a process and we're still on that journey! It began when our oldest, at age 2, was diagnosed with celiac disease (gluten intolerance). That really started us looking into buying less processed foods and eating more whole foods. Then, when our middle son was six, he had open-heart surgery to close a congenital hole in his heart (he's fine now!). And so, in preparation for surgery, we continued down the path and eliminated white sugar, corn syrup, and hydrogenated oil from our purchases...
I love learning about nutrition and whole foods, so our 'change of diet' has not been burdensome to me. On the other hand, I enjoy cooking from scratch and providing a home-cooked meal for our family.
One thing that has been helpful in 'what to buy' is this list from the Environmental Working Group~

It's a great, little, printable list about pesticide load that you can carry in your wallet. They refer to it as the Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 lists. It's been helpful for me in shopping and trying to make wise choices in my shopping ventures.

A change of seasons~

Where we live, in our mountain home, the seasons are changing.  Already we have had snow dust the mountains more than once this fall....
