What a blessing to have success
during bull elk season
this year~
Last year we missed out. They just weren't around.
But,
this year...
Jonathan was watching, waiting, scouting,
and ready.
And, so were the coyotes~
The night before there were a number of bulls hanging
around, uncommon for our area as we usually only
see a couple.
The next morning there was still snow on the ground
and Jonathan headed out early...and success!
This is the first time we've taken our meat in to be butchered.
Since we moved out here 4 years ago,
we've done it ourselves.
Eight bucks and 1 elk~
Definitely a learning process!
Jonathan got an elk 2 years ago and it was quite
a lot of work to process. Tons of meat, though,
and well worth it.
This year, we are busy with work and other
commitments, so we hauled it down to the
game processor.
I imagine it will just about fill the freezer :)

Jennifer,
That is so exciting, tell Jonathan Congratulations!
My guys are up hunting this weekend, but they are in unfamiliar territory and they haven't seen much Elk where they are. This is my oldest son's first time Big game hunting, so he's in the learning stage, I guess you should day. They have however, seen lots of Coyotes.
How wonderful to get all that meat! Full freezers are always a good sign.
Have a great day!
Blessings,
Amy
